FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CHRYSTAL SOFTWARE TO SHOWCASE XML-BASED WEB CONTENT MANAGEMENT AT XML 2000 TRADE SHOW Partners Also Demonstrate Personalized Content Management, Assembly and Delivery from One Platform to a Variety of Output Devices SAN DIEGO, Nov. 28, 2000 - Chrystal Software, a Xerox New Enterprise Company, will demonstrate the power of Eclipse, the company's solution for Web-based content management and personalized assembly, at XML 2000. Produced by the Graphic Communication Association and IDEAlliance, the XML 2000 Conference and Exhibition runs Dec. 5-7 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Washington, D.C. Chrystal Software, a premium sponsor, will be in Booth 201. Chrystal Software also will have four partners showing how their XML-based solutions integrate with Eclipse: Calian Technology, Ltd.; Ecosystems Design, Inc.; Lightspeed Interactive, Inc.; and Tata Infotech Limited. "It is significant that Chrystal Software can demonstrate the power of Eclipse through the diverse applications of our partners," said David E. Garnett, president and chief executive officer, Chrystal Software. "The partners' solutions highlight our product's sound architecture and flexibility. These are powerful applications for distance learning, compliance, personalization and publishing." Eclipse is built on recognized Internet standards and an underlying architecture that provides the core functionality for content capture, content management, on-the-fly assembly, personalization, and business rules. It allows the use of familiar tools and applications. It provides full content management and is compatible with existing Web pages, Web design tools, Web browsers, Web servers and XML authoring software. Eclipse fully supports XML and HTML data types. "When a page is requested, Eclipse generates the content from a set of components stored at a very granular level in a repository," explains Marc Hadley, chief engineer, Chrystal Software. "It then formats that content as a Web page specific to the user and the delivery device, whether it is CD-ROM, print, wireless devices, Web or interactive television." "Out of the box, Eclipse adds value to businesses that market to and support a worldwide customer base," Garnett said. "With the innovative contributions of our partners, Eclipse addresses XML-based Web content management issues across all industries and applications. In addition, recent upgrades to the core architecture includes a new Unicode API for enhanced support of multilingual applications." Chrystal Software partner Calian will demonstrate SGML and XML solutions for the management and deployment of mission-critical and interactive content. New York-based Ecosystems will demonstrate The Environment. The Environment adds 27 new features to Eclipse, enabling people to interact with their XML in ways never before possible. Lightspeed Interactive will demonstrate single-source authoring, state-of-the-art content management and personalized, dynamic delivery, targeted for all media.
