Siemens Business Services Enhances Operations Using Infoteria Software
CyberNeeds Application Makes Life Easier for New Employees

BOSTON, Mass. and TOKYO, Japan - December 18, 2000 - Infoteria Corporation
today announced that Siemens Business Services is using Infoteria's
iMAKER(tm) and iMESSENGER(tm) products as part of an internal application
to support managers and human resources personnel in the new-hire process.
Created by the User Centered Services group, the new CyberNeeds application
will use XML to integrate and web-enable the time-consuming process of
procuring all of the new resources needed by new employees, such as phones,
computers, user IDs, calling cards, furniture, and ISP authorization.

Today, these new-employee resources are procured by filling out
spreadsheet-based forms that are then manually processed by the disparate
groups that provide new employee resources. The new application will be
fully automated, yet will take advantage of the familiar Excel spreadsheet
as the user interface. The new application is expected to not only
increase productivity but also be used as a basis for new features such as
online approvals and the ability to quickly and easily check the status of
each order.

CyberNeeds will take advantage of XML to create a seamless web-based
system. Infoteria's iMAKER will be used to translate the spreadsheet
information into XML, Web-enabling the current application and supporting
new functionality such as interoperability with other existing systems.
Infoteria's iMESSENGER will be used as the automation engine for handling
the XML requests.

"XML is an incredibly efficient way to integrate applications," commented
Klaus Szyska, who designed the application. "In addition to being a great
solution technically, XML makes it easier to work as a team because it
serves as a common language. For example, my application will be
integrated with the PeopleSoft system used in HR. When I sent the folks at
PeopleSoft the specs for how we would like the nightly emails set up in
XML, I was expecting the usual next step: a request for a design meeting.
Instead, because the XML specs were so clear, they were able to respond
immediately with what I needed. Their part just snapped right in."

Tim Browne, Infoteria's CEO said, "By incorporating Infoteria's iMAKER and
iMESSENGER into the CyberNeeds project, Siemens has demonstrated that XML
is the ideal choice for enterprise-scale corporate applications." He went
on to add that, "with such a diverse set of operating systems, hardware,
and languages, this project provided a truly global test, which XML passed
with flying colors."
