Subject: [announce] BOTs, BOTLs, BIOs et al
Oh dear! What is going on? A few days ago we had BIOs. Now we have BOTs or BOTLs. I am getting confused by all of these acronyms I think that there is a distinct possibility of duplicating and side-tracking effort here. I believe we are precisely on the join of BPM and CC activities. In my book, BPM discovers 'messages', their desirable structure and information content to serve business processes. CC's repertoire of ABIEs and BIEs linked to CCs and context is the source of 'information content'. I believe that we must have a most serious joint activity at, and before, the Seattle meeting. Neither team can go off inventing on their own. Whatever we call them, whatever the acronym, information components are aggregated up, eventually, into 'parts of messages' and then into 'messages'. And here I am using the term 'message' in its widest sense, from EDI batch messages to the 'exchanges' in an interactive dialogue. So please can we decide which tunnel we are about to dive into, decide what the objective light at the end of the tunnel is, and go down it together? regards Mike Adcock Standards & Security Unit APACS - Association for Payment Clearing Services Mercury House, Triton Court 14 Finsbury Square London EC2A 1LQ Tel: +44 (0) 20 7711 6318 Fax: +44 (0) 20 7711 6299 e-mail: michael.adcock@apacs.org.uk ********************************************************************** The opinions expressed are those of the individual and not the company.
