American Red Cross Selects Arbortext

Will use Arbortext to create and publish biomedical service documents

ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 19, 2003 --Arbortext, Inc., a leading global
provider of XML-based software for content creation, editing and
multichannel publishing, today announced that the American Red Cross has
selected its software to create and publish biomedical service
documents. The American Red Cross is the largest supplier of blood and
blood products to more than 3,000 U.S. hospitals as well as victims of
world conflicts and international disasters.

Arbortext software will enable the American Red Cross Biomedical
Services group to create and publish controlled documents. These
controlled documents, including standard operating procedures, policies,
work instructions and reference manuals, guide the manufacturing process
of blood products and must be complete, accurate, consistent and
relevant.

”The safety, security and availability of the blood supply is our
highest priority,” said Sheila Peden, Director of Publications,
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Systems at American Red Cross. “We
welcome the opportunity to work with Arbortext as we build applications
that support this priority.”

“Successful organizations are constantly reviewing and improving
processes, implementing quality control programs and managing operating
costs, and the American Red Cross understands the critical role that
information plays in addressing these factors,” said Ray Schiavone,
President and CEO at Arbortext. “The American Red Cross is one of the
most well-respected, well-known organizations in the world and we are
proud to assist them as they continue with their humanitarian
commitment.”
