Source Localisation
The President
of the University of Limerick, Prof Roger
Downer, will officially
open the 9th Annual International Localisation Conference at the University of
Limerick on Wednesday, 21 September 2004, 9am, Computer Science Building.
Following the
official opening, the BBC World Service will be
announced as the winner of the LRC's annual Best Global Website Award, sponsored
by one of the world's largest
interactive advertising companies,
EuroRSCG.
The keynote of the conference will be
delivered by Australian-based
Paul Gampe, Director of Engineering, RedHat Asia
Pacific. Paul will address the main theme of the event Open
Source: the new paradigm for international digital content
development.
Other speakers will represent some of the
world's largest software companies involved in open source development: IBM,
SUN, Oracle and LinuxTag.
The industry
exhibition will include stands from the WEST is BEST
localisation campaign and a recruitment company looking for localisation
experts for a multinational software development company opening up
new facilities in the West of Ireland.
