Subject: Department of Defense Certifies DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CERTIFIES DATAPOWER XS40 XML SECURITY GATEWAY

DataPower Continues To Receive Recognition for Government Grade Security
Capabilities and Leading Interoperability

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - February 7, 2005 - DataPower(r), the leading
provider of network hardware for securing and routing XML messages,
announced today that its most widely deployed DataPower XS40 XML
Security Gateway(tm) has received Joint Interoperability Test Command
(JITC) interoperability certification for the U.S. Department of Defense
(DOD) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), after rigorous testing by the
JITC Certification Lab personnel at a military base.

JITC certification is a required pre-cursor to validating true
interoperability of Public Key Enabled products according to the DoD PKI
requirements, and is another example of DataPower's leadership in
providing purpose-built and tested security that is strong enough to
meet these most stringent requirements. Investing in security first has
enabled DataPower to become the most widely deployed XML-aware
networking vendor and the security solution of choice for Global 1000
firms and government agencies. DataPower's customers, which include the
Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), BAE, Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop
Grumman, Massachusetts DOR and multiple U.S. Department of Defense
commands also benefit from one of the most experienced and sophisticated
technical and executive teams ever assembled at a private company.
DataPower's team includes Bret Hartman, co-creator of the famous NSA
Orange Book that was the foundation of the Common Criteria framework,
and Rich Salz, world-renowned for his contributions to PKI, SOAP and Web
services security standards and the chief security architect for
DataPower's XS40.

DataPower's JITC certification is another in a long line of independent
security certifications including DataPower being the first Web service
security vendor to undergo Common Criteria "EAL4 Assurance Level"
evaluation ; the XS40 XML Security Gateway is the first of its kind to
successfully pass important SAML conformance testing; successful @Stake
penetration testing; RSA certification for interoperability with RSA
Federated Identity Management; Cyclone Commerce certification for secure
ebXML, and the only XML security gateway to be selected to participate
in GSA eAuthentication SAML Interop event at the 2004 & 2005 RSA
Conference. The JITC certification also augments DataPower's government
programs, including the SAIC reseller partnership and the Federal XML
Web Service Security Immersion Program. More information about the JITC
certification for the DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway is available
at http://jitc.fhu.disa.mil/pki/vendor/datapower_xmlgateway.html.
