Subject: OASIS Open CSA Member Section Steering Committee 'Special Election'

OASIS Open CSA Member Section Members,

One seat on the OASIS Open CSA Member Section Steering Committee (SC) is
now open for nomination and election. The current SC consists of six
members [1] and does not comply with the Rules of Procedure, 'The SC shall
consist of seven (7) members...' [2], therefore, a Special Election will be
held.

The Member Section will nominate and elect one Steering Committee Members to complete
the recently vacated one-year term.

The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee are
defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [3] and the Open CSA Member
Section Rules of Procedure [2]. Any Open CSA participant [4] may nominate or
be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee. (Any OASIS member
may join the Open CSA MS at no additional cost [5].)

Each Open CSA Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the
single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated,
the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector.

***Per the schedule below, the voting period will be one week. Please note,
if you are the Primary Representative for your organization and unable to
vote during the designated time period, please defer the voting member role
to another employee member by sending an email to
member-services@oasis-open.org, any such change should be in place before
the ballot is cast.**

NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE

Nominations will be open 16-Oct-2008 through 31-October-2008.

The election will be held 03-Nov-2008 through 11-Nov-2008.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Any Open CSA participant may nominate a candidate via email to:
nominations@oasis-open.org.

Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must:

1. Accept the nomination;

2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position
(participation in a two-hour teleconference each month, additional support
activities as needed);

3. Provide background information and a position statement describing
his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering
Committee; and

4. Be a participant in the Open CSA Member Section.

ELECTION PROCESS

The new Steering Committee members will be selected by the Open CSA
Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process -
Scottish  Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for
candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the
electorate. Open CSA Qualified Electors will be sent detailed voting
instructions separately.

Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and
confirmed.

We encourage all Open CSA participants to consider serving on the Steering
Committee. Please contact member-services@oasis-open.org with any questions
you might have regarding this process.
