OASIS invites you to attend a free, 30-minute webinar providing
advice and guidance for the use of Free, Libre and Open Source
Software by Governments (FLOSS).
The webinar is hosted by the eGov Member Section and will be
presented by two members of their Steering Committee, Charles
Schulz and John Borras. This is one in a series of
outputs that the Member Section is producing as part of its remit
to promote the adoption and implementation of open standards that
facilitate interoperability within and between government agencies
and all of their stakeholders, and to stimulate the sharing of best
practices and examination of use cases concerning the delivery of
eGovernment services.
The webinar will provide:
• an explanation of exactly what FLOSS is,
• a review of its rise in prominence over the last few years,
• a look at its current progress and future development,
• a detailed look at how it can be used by Governments,
• examples of current implementations,
• advice on getting started for those who haven’t already embraced
it.
Who should attend:
• Government and other public sector officials responsible for
ICT policy, procurement, and implementation.
• Providers of software and services to Governments.
• SDO and open source developers creating application used by the
public sector
• Anyone wishing to learn first-hand about FLOSS.
