Subject: Re: [bcm] Project QuickStart
Bruce,
You forgot to add 1 day up front for figuring
out
what all the boxes in the Quick Start plan
mean,
and then another 1 day for hiring someone
to
keep track of it all for the team!
I noticed that ICHnet have their SAIL work out
for review again. Seems to me that this
kinda
planning and facilititation aspects is a large
part of that work too - how to run a
project.
In the past we've tended to put this stuff in
an
Appendix or reference out to it - as these
are
really generic project management tools -
rather than formal
parts of a technology
specification. And different projects
require different management
approaches.
If you are trying to foster innovation
the
last thing you need is your engineers
filling out time cards and project
plans
and attending status meetings all day
long!
Here's the reference to SAIL below.

Subject: Re: [XMLWG] Solution Architecture Integration Lab (SAIL)
initiative materials now posted for comment All, The Solution Architecture Integration Lab (SAIL) initiative is close to it launch date and wanted to get feedback from those interested in improving the process by which we try to align common business needs to commercial IT solutions. As failures in this process account for over 34% of all IT failures (estimated to cost the tax payer over $20 Billion/year) many of us believe this collaborative solution modeling and validation effort will greatly improve our ability to successfully leverage emerging technologies. White papers, briefings, charter, and frequently asked questions are posted at www.ICHnet.org. This effort was initiated in Nov 02 in response to several major factors; IAC EA SIG recommendations on advancing the use of Component-based Architectures, the E-Gov ACT, and an expressed need by many agencies to help bootstrap the implementation of the new FEA PMO reference models (www.FEAPMO.gov). If your group has not already been brief, any one of the SAIL team members (over 200), can come by and explain why the combined knowledge of many is superior to that of a few when trying to develop enterprise solution architectures. I look forward to your feedback. john John Weiler CTO ICH Architecture Resource Center +1-703-768-0400 (v) +1-703-863-3766 (cell) +1-703-765-9295 (fx) www.ICHnet.org www.SecurE-Biz.net |
