Subject: Re: Health Care Reform and Future of CEA-721
Hi Ken, Yes, we enjoyed the Florida vacation in Jupiter :-) This is good news from CEA ! Unfortunately working with the authorities is a bit unpredictable regarding progress and milestones. I feel now that we can promote CEA-721 more directly in the ongoing work being done in eprForum and our approach to the Norwegian (EU) authorities. As I mensione in the last mail eprForum is now working with MULIGHETENES ELDREOMSORG ( = opportunities in the care services of elderly people). Here we now have focus on the Norwegian Health Care and Interoperability reform plan released 19. June 2009( See document ) and I will now promote CEA-721 more directly. See chapter Teknologi and fig 3 . The reform really needs an interoperability abstraction layer standard as CEA-721 and generic CAL for bus technologies along with the real SOA service management approach. eprForum allong with IT & Integration AS, SOA Front Office AS, Integrasoft Srl, NAV sikte etc will continue the CEA-721 work converting the CAL device models to XML through a common UDDI device catalog. I will also involve OASIS BCM-EPR SC in this work. Unfortinately the links mostly refer to Norwegian texts, but at least some figures and content should be familiar Most people are back from holidays next week here in Norway and we will continue the weekly project meetings. Ken, I will keep you informed in the further progress ! Best regards

The CEA has agreed to renew CEA-721, Generic CAL, with the understanding that your organization will take the lead in continuing work on the standard. CEA is willing to grant you copyright to do this work. I just received a request for confirmation of your willingness to do this. Please send me an e-mail week that your company or a Norwegian agency will continue work on CEA-721. The CEA needs to report to ANSI (American National Standards Institute) about CEA-721 next Monday. So I would appreciate hearing from you this week.
