B2B CONNECTION SETUP PROTOCOL

Roger presented his views on "Connect" and some use cases he has contributed to the IDCloud TC. He envisages several models and wants to make sure a solution supports the "long tail" of small and medium-size businesses, including enterprises who do not even own an Internet domain, and leverage email or social media for simple self-registration.

CPP/CPA AND IDEAS FOR "CONNECT" PROTOCOL

It was noted that CPA formation (negotiation) has been specified in the former ebXML CPPA TC. A specification and a schema exist for a "Negotiation Description Document". It supports a concept of "take it or leave it negotiation" that uses XPaths and expresses variable value ranges. (The AFDD work build on these concepts). It was furthermore indicated that a requirement for CPP/A 3.0 was to be backwards compatible with the version 2.0. The requirement probably no longer makes sense, and the CPP/A schema and specification would be much simpler if that requirement was dropped. Finally it was noted that the v3.0 schema supports Web Services including WSDL, BPEL and BPMN 2.0 references. The impression is that this work was ahead of its time, but contains ideas that can be taken up if there is an interest.

Dale commented that the NAPTR has a "service" identifier field, which could reference a BDX "connect" endpoint.
Sander wondered what requirements motivate the benefits on slide 11. Pim indicated it is to support "closed" or "semi-closed" communities (Dale indicates that "protected" is a better term). Susanne mentions she also thinks profiles could be exchanged as user messages. The TC agrees that it would be best to explicitly identify and agree on the requirements (which are emerging from this and previous presentations) and classify them in functional categories. Dale offers to provide input on such categories. Susanne proposes to present E-CODEX requirements related to this aspect in more detail and present them at the next meeting.
