Subject: BIAS Reference Implementation

All,

NIST has recently updated their BIAS Reference Implementation targeting the OASIS BIAS Committee Specification Draft 06. This update provides a client and service application that are both Class 2 conformant. A Class 2 implementation demonstrates all major capabilities of BIAS – Enrolment, Verification (1 to 1), Identification (1 to many), Retrieve Information, and Query Capabilities. Additionally provided in this package is the BIAS CBEFF Patron Format XML File, BIAS WSDL file, batch helper files (for code generation), sample WSQ/Bitmap fingerprint images, and a README that goes over the package contents.

The client component is written in Adobe Flex / Action Script 3.0 using Adobe Flash Builder 4.0. The service is written in Visual Basic.NET using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional.

The ZIP file can be downloaded from our website, http://bws.nist.gov (or directly http://www.nist.gov/itl/iad/ig/upload/BIAS_20110916.zip).

Discussions, comments, suggestions, or questions are more than encouraged! We’re particularly interested in anyone who has a client or server that can interoperate with the provided implementation. The OASIS BIAS TC has worked to make the BIAS WSDL ‘out-of-the-box’ friendly to common tools, so please let us know if you have a client/server or can offer development time to get an implementation setup.

Thanks,
