Subject: Other Remote Application options and UI protocols
Dear BPEL4People TC, (1) When I was thinking about a general mechanism for remote applications, I did not include XUL into consideration, because it is Mozzilla- dependent and it uses proprietary programming syntax for it to load. This may not be suitable as a generic example as a remote application over service. However, it has a nice feature like downloading UIs of a remote application into Mozzilla by specifying a URL for it. The UIs just acts as the client application to the remote application. However, in case of BPMS, it still needs to be first relayed by BPMS to make client-server connection, and the "start" and "completion" probably require the extra steps I mentioned. I have no insight into what Windows remote application protocol can do (Is there one? Not the Windows Remote Desktop application because it can't be used as a Web Service. Is this correct?). If someone can give me information, that would be great. (2) Also, what I did not mention before is a security issue. The end user is connected to the BPMS as an authorized user. With BPEL, I think that it is assumed that a security token is transfered to Web Services, e.g. WS-Security to verify. With BPEL4People, I think that the security token is also extended to the human interface (or the remote application). If it is not the same as the SOAP context, it must obtain and verify the security token from the BPMS or via SAML IdP?
