Subject: Issue - maint-16 - Impossible fault destinations

This issue has been added to the btpm issue list with a status of "received". The status will be changed to "open" if the TC accepts it as identifying a bug in the spec or decides it should be accepted specially. Otherwise it will be closed without further consideration (but will be marked as "Revisitable")

The issues list is posted as a Technical Committee document to the OASIS BTP TC pages on a regular basis. The current edition, as a TC document, is the most recent version of the document entitled in the "Issues" folder of the BTP TC document list - the next posting as a TC document will include this issue. The list editor's working copy, which will normally include an issue when it is announced, is available at this constant URL.

Issue - maint-16 - Impossible fault destinations

Status: open
Date added: 14 Sep 2004
Date submitted: 14 September 2004
Submitter: Peter Furniss
Description: (Found while completing the WSDL)

For various messages of the control relationships, the existing text states that BTP Faults are sent "decider address" or various other addresses that are not in fact fields of the received message. This occurs with messages that are responses to some other message (e.g. TRANSACTION_CONFIRMED as a reply to CONFIRM_TRANSACTION).

For PREPARE_INFERIORS and CANCEL_INFERIORS, the text says the reply is sent to "Superior-address", which is not a field of PREPARE_INFERIORS.
Submitter's proposal: Messages that do not have a reply address should not generate BTP Fault messages at all (obviously they could cause SOAP faults).

Remove the Fault lists from STATUS, TRANSACTION_CONFIRMED, TRANSACTION_CANCELLED and INFERIOR_STATUSES

For PREPARE_INFERIORS, CANCEL_INFERIORS, change the destination of the Fault to "reply-address"
Changes: 14 Sep 2004 - new issue
