[mailto:Cathy.Tilton@daon.com] Yes – please include Daon as a
potential participant! We’re happy to see the good work in
biometric web services expand and see many applications to they type of things
Daon does as a biometric identity platform (on both the client/capture side as
well as the backend/server side). Guess I’m going to have to finally
break down and join facebook. Here I was thinking I was too old for that J (at least that is what my grandson
tells me!) CT From: Micheals, Ross
J. [mailto:ross.micheals@nist.gov] Thanks for your e-mail Cathy. I’ve just realized that although
we’ve asked for comments on the draft charter we haven’t yet asked
for folks to self-identify as potential participants in the TC itself. This is
a critical step in determining if we have enough momentum to create the TC
itself. Cathy, may I ‘officially’ include Daon as a potential
participant? P.S. We have about 40 subscribers on the
list, so if you post, it won’t be just Cathy and I that get your e-mail. J P.P.S. We’ve made Facebook! J (http://www.facebook.com/4NIST) From: Tilton, Cathy

– I’m
excited about the prospect of this new Biometrics TC. The current BIAS
(Biometric Identity Assurance Services) TC charter was narrowly focused, which
didn’t allow us to easily add new projects related to the broader area of
biometrics. The intention is for this (what I would consider a
“spin-off”) TC, to have a broader scope, allowing it to initiate
projects such as a Web services based device interface (initially envisioned)
but also other projects in future, perhaps relating to the use of biometrics as
an authentication mechanism within Web services transactions, or others. The
draft charter is posted on the BIAS TC website (http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/bias/download.php/40306/Draft%20Charter%20for%20OASIS%20BWS%20TC%20-%2027%20Sept%202010.pdf).
Take a look and give us your feedback. Did you see something we missed or
could be improved? Let us know. Cheers, Cathy
