I see that you did in fact address the grouping within APS...

I would suggest a couple of minor changes to further disambiguate:

Graphical primitives may have a value for Escape 45 other than fully 
opaque.  Each such primitive has the effect of producing a temporary 
separate canvas initialized to transparent black onto which the primitive 
is drawn. The canvas is then composited into the background, taking into 
account the Escape 45 value. The grouping of graphical primitives within an 
APS has no effect on the rendering. No temporary canvas is created for the 
APS (group) itself. It is identical to the case of no APS.
