Subject: xNAL potential use

Hello,

Steve Noyes, with the State of Nevada, US, Dept of Public Safety. I've read
with some interest your documents regarding the standards, xNAL and others,
and per your request I'm letting you know we are considering this as a
potential for refined naming and addressing conventions within state data
processing.

Our particular area has to do with Criminal Justice systems and the many
agencies which are involved. As you can imagine, we track all sorts of names
and places, for a multitude of reasons. It is also highly desirable to be
able to match these records against each other from time to time, so we are
looking at that as well. In fact at the moment we have a sizable project
requiring a matching of business names from agencies all over the state,
compared to what the Fire Marshal shows as registered, inspected, and
permitted for hazardous materials when appropriate. This brings out the need
for a serious standard, as I'm sure you see.

So, we are certainly interested, and I may be asking a few questions in the
near future. I'm glad to see this work in place though. Well done!

Best regards,

Steve Noyes
