Subject: Apache Chemistry
Hi all, As I mentioned at the last conf call, we're in the process of setting up an Apache project named "Chemistry" to hold generic Java code around the CMIS specification. This code will have a high level API, a lower-level SPI and generic implementations of clients and servers for AtomPub and SOAP bindings, as well as sample backends serving data from an in-memory repository or one based on JCR, with more to be added later. We also expect that the unit tests will turn into some kind of unofficial TCK. The project is currently being accepted (pending administration stuff) to the Apache Incubator, following the proposal at http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/ChemistryProposal . The current codebase is in between migrations, an early version was committed to the Jackrabbit sandbox, the current version I'm working on is in a Mercurial repository at http://hg.nuxeo.org/sandbox/chemistry and soon it will be in a dedicated svn repository in Apache's incubator. I'll be glad to talk about the code and API choices at the plugfest, or on this list if there is broader interest. A dedicated chemistry list will be set up as part of the incubator soon.
