Subject: Minor change to normative text for Custom Properties?
One of the normative statements for Custom Properties is below. Custom Property names
SHOULD be unique when produced by the same source and SHOULD use a consistent namespace prefix (e.g., a domain name). The purpose of this statement was to strongly suggest that when creating custom property names that an entity should not reuse the name across different STIX Objects where it has a
different semantics. However, we don’t want it to imply that you shouldn’t reuse a name across different STIX Objects where it has the
same semantics. The editors could try to craft a statement that says that, but since this is part of consensus normative text, we felt that it needed to be discussed with the community. Therefore, it is a topic for Tuesday’s
working call. I’m sure that we can quickly fix this text so it is unambiguous and satisfactory to all. Rich |
