Subject: Minutes for March 14, 2016 DITA Adoption FASC Meeting
(Sorry for not sending this out sooner!)
Present: Keith Schengili-Roberts, Mark Poston, Richard Simms
Absent: Don Day, Kris Eberlein =Taxonomy=
Mark reported on his progress in this area: - has taken content from MindMeister and placed its contents into a specific taxonomy management tool called PoolParty (https://www.poolparty.biz/taxonomy-thesaurus-management/); he will now work exclusively in this tool
- is able to create relationships between items and can export as RDF; Mark has created a script that converts this exported RDF to DITA Subject Scheme - within DITAWeb the taxonomy also creates "dummy topic" at a specific URL
(e.g. http://dita.xml.org/taxonomy/bookmap), which in addition to being a possible search result page for articles containing "bookmap" in its metadata, also has space for a glossary definition - demonstrated how synonymous terms can be created in DITAWeb - Mark is investigating suitability of a third-party program for automatically classifying content against the taxonomy; this will not be ready in time for DITA North America conference =Content Conversion=
- Mark was able to demonstrate how several recent DITA Adoption white papers (all of the DITA 1.3 ones) would appear within the draft version of the website
- need more of the white papers, preferably in DITA format - aspects of DITA 1.3 can be used as well, in particular the XML Mention domain elements - Keith talked about efforts between himself and Don at converting material from old website; Don has made significant strides in pulling volumes of existing content from the
Knowledgebase and converting them to DITA
- need to coordinate clean-up of this content prior to migration - Mark also mentioned that we can start embedding keywords into the converted material based on the draft taxonomy
=Action Items=
Mark and Richard: - continue work on UI and integrating taxonomy into draft website - send Subject Scheme to Keith and Don so that we can start tagging metadata in converted content
Keith: - ask for the other DITA Adoption whitepapers in DITA format - coordinate with Don on converted content - Ask Leigh White for sample chapters in DITA format from her book -
