Subject: Groups - DITA Adoption Committee minutes, 1 December 2008 (DITA_TC_meeting_120182008.txt) uploaded

I have uploaded a TXT file of the minutes. Here is what they contain:

-------------------------------------------------------

acclamation.

3. SCHEDULE FOR UPCOMING HOLIDAY WEEKS

4. CATEGORIES FOR FILES ON THE OASIS SITE
*
http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/dita-adoption/documents.php
Currently, only the default Kavi categories are available: Calendar
Documents, Meeting Notes, and Standards. Discussion ensued about whether
documents were

available for the public to read. Don Day clarified that documents become
the intellectual property of OASIS, and that the default setting is for
documents

to be available for the public to view. Don and Gershon provided additional
clarification that the standards process is designed to be open.
Action: Gershon will propose additional categories for the site, and he
will post them to the list serve for feedback.

5. DITA 1.2 REVIEW ASSIGNMENTS
*
http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita/Draft_DITA_1.2_Specification_Review_Assignments
The DITA TC tracks information about the DITA 1.2 reviews on a Wiki page
that only members of the DITA TC can edit. We need to devise a process to
ensure

that the work of Adoption Committee members is accurately logged on this
page.
Action: Committee members who have sent Robert Anderson comments about the
DITA 1.2 Language Specification, let Gershon know. He will update the
review

assignments page on the DITA TC Wiki.

6. SIGN-UP SHEET FOR WRITING TOPICS ABOUT DITA 1.2 FEATUREs
* http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita-adoption/SignUp
Kris Eberlein has added a sign-up sheet for Adoption Committee members who
are willing to write a user-friendly topic about a DITA 1.2 feature. She
added the

names of people who volunteered at last week's meeting.
Action: Adoption TC members need to review the list and make sure that it
is correct. They should sign up if they have not already done so (and have
the time

and inclination to do this work).

7. SWOT (STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES, THREATS) ANALYSIS
* SWOT analysis:
  http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita-adoption/DITA_Adoption_SWOT_Analysis
* SWOT analysis with business focus:

http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita-adoption/DITA_Adoption_Business_SWOT_Analysis
* SWOT analysis with author focus:

* SWOT analysis with IT focus:

http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita-adoption/DITA_Adoption_IT_Dev_SWOT_Analysis
David Hollis has updated the SWOT analysis for Business adopters. He also
asked what do want to do with this? Do we need to discuss what we want to
put in a

whitepaper?
Action: Adoption TC members should review the SWOT analysis with business
focus. Adoption TC members also should add comments to the Author and IT
pages.

8. ARTICLES/TOPIC ABOUT DITA 1.2 FEATURES

http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/dita-adoption/document.php?document_id=29943
* Kris Eberlein, "Improvements to linking"

http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/dita-adoption/document.php?document_id=30211
JoAnn Hackos has asked for feedback about what she has written. In
particular, she would like realistic examples for <steps>,
<steps-unordered>, and

<process>. Kris Eberlein has uploaded a ZIP file that contains DITA source
and HTML output for a topic about the DITA 1.2 feature #12048: Improved
link

management.
Action: Adoption TC members should review both documents. We will discuss
the topic about improved link management on 8 December 2008. We will
discuss the

article about the DITA 1.2 task model on 5 January 2009.

9. DAVID HOLLIS'S REVIEW OF THE DITA 1.2 SPECIFICATION
Action: Gershon to handle this.

10. DITA.XML.ORG
* Focus area
  http://dita.xml.org/
* Comments about the focus area:
  http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita-adoption/Comments_about_focus_area
Kris Eberlein has asked Mary McRae, now that she is back from her vacation,
to set up a mailing list and other administrative tools for the
subcommittee.
Action: People to continue reviewing the site and adding their comments to
the Wiki page.

11. CALL FOR USERS
OASIS needs a list of companies or organizations that intend to use one or
more DITA 1.2 features, such as the new image scale-to-fit feature. OASIS
plans to

make this list public before or around the time of the DITA 1.2 release.
Don Day suggested that the Adoption Committee keep a running list and have
it be

part of the regular agenda.
Action: Kris will create a Wiki page for Adoption TC; Gershon will create
the Wiki page for the DITA TC. The two pages will reference each other.
Action: Gershon will add this as a reoccurring item to the weekly agenda.

Meeting adjourned.
