Subject: RE: [dita-adoption] New Wiki page about DITA case studies
Thanks for putting this together, Kris! I need some input from the wider audience on the following. Many documentation managers do see the benefit of moving to
DITA; however, they have certain “preconceived notions” that
prevent them from moving to DITA. Therefore, while making a business case to
managers in Asia, we may have to demystify a few myths/perceptions. BTW, some
of these are real problems and not just perceptions/myths. Here are a couple of myths around DITA that I have heard: ·
Insanely technical and requires new skill set for the staff ·
No real RoI if reuse is limited ·
No out-of-the-box implementation; lot of customization for the (publishing)
infrastructure ·
Cost of vendors who implement the solution is prohibitive ·
Migration is time-consuming and laborious It would be great if we can get some input from people who have
been successful in running the adoption program in other parts of the world. Matt, we can discuss the input from various members in our SC
meetings. Thanks, Akash From: mathew varghese

Please add to this resource! FYI,
the impetus for creating this page came from the Asian Adoption SC, which wants
data and information to present to managers in that geographic information. Best regards, Kris Kristen James Eberlein l DITA
