Subject: RE: [dita-adoption] Draft of Paper on DITA 1.3 XML Mention Domain
Some comments in attached PDF. A couple of them are similar but not quite the same as ones from Eliot; I left them anyway. Apart from minor terminology quibbles, a notable recurring theme of my commentary (as noted in a comment or three, but not called out everywhere I saw a problem): The document needs some cleaning up with respect to: - What the default/expected DITA OT behaviour is for each of the elements - (Maybe) what the actual current state of affairs in the DITA OT is. There is at least one instance -- xmlpi -- where it appears you actually used the XML mention markup but the processing did not meet expectations. I didn't actually verify my hunch by looking at the DITA source. I realize there's no such thing as simply "THE DITA OT" when it comes to describing this. Perhaps a way to handle this is to put a general caution somewhere in the article along the lines of "All the stuff we say here about formatting of these elements is *expected* behaviour, but the actual DITA OT development or any particular transform may not quite have caught up with expectations in all cases yet". Another (draconian?) possibility would be to entirely eliminate all mentions of processing expectations. - The language used to mention the above throughout the article. The actual phrasing of it is very different in just about every section, and could do with some consistency. mag From: dita-adoption@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:dita-adoption@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Keith Schengili-Roberts Hello everyone: Please find attached a zip file containing the map and DITA files for a short piece I have put together on the XML Mention domain elements in DITA 1.3. Have also attached a PDF for easier reading (please note that the formatting is not the OASIS standard output type, so it may look a bit odd). It has already been through technical edits from two of my colleagues at IXIASOFT as well as Bob Thomas. Additional comments/thoughts welcome!
