Minutes: Learning Content SC, 6 December 2007 John Hunt Scott Hudson Reuben Tozman Wayne Gafford John will be able to devote significant time toward developing the processing stylesheets at the start of the new year. SCORM is the highest priority target. Learning Map to imsmanifest Links only within the same SCO (topic) Rueben: Create each individual topic as SCOs and aggregate them (create an aggregation) from the map. Maps can also be aggregated. It makes it easier to reuse the output SCORM files if needed, without having to go all the way back to the DITA source. John provided an example imsmanifest to walk through. The key issue is whether to have a single SCO for each topic (Intro, Assessment, Summary, etc). Plus a higher level organization to group them. Question is, do you keep these as separate SCOs or roll them into a single SCO or both? Wayne: A SCO should be a terminal learning objective (may be 1, may be 100). The logical stopping point for any point in a course. The overview could be an overview of a course, section, or any other level. We have not specifically defined what level they have to occur in. Rueben: The cardinal rule I use, is that a SCO is the smallest level of content that you know you will want to reuse later. Essentially the map will be expressed as an organization in the IMS manifest, and each of the refs will be translated to the resources. Scott: What version of SCORM are we targeting? SCORM 2004 (the latest) Wayne to submit email perhaps as part of an FAQ. Rueben also has some good content around how SCOs could be reused that would also be good for the FAQ.
