Bob discussed the likely direction that the TC is taking in 2.0 regarding separating out the Technical Content and the Learning and Training packages into their own work products. He went on to say that the TC would likely want the Technical Content Subcommittee (TCSC) to take responsibility for the technical content work products. These work products include all of the grammar files in the technical content package plus the corresponding documentation in the DITA specification.
It was pointed out that the TCSC will continue operating under the auspices of the TC. This means that final approval for TCSC work products rests with the TC and that the TC membership will take an active role in our review process.
The attendees unanimously agreed that it makes sense for the TCSC to begin meeting separately from the DITA Adoption TC after a transition period. The separate meetings would begin after the first of next year. A few folks on the call who don't currently attend the joint TCSC/Adoption meeting plan to attend the TCSC once it meets separately. Don indicated that his interests are primarily focused on Adoption, so he would continue with that.
If the likely 2.0 separation of technical content into its own work products occurs, the TCSC will need to port 2.0 architectural changes into the technical content grammar files and specification topics. Beyond that, there are opportunities to make changes with the technical content grammar files including the default doctype shell configurations. The TCSC will also have the opportunity to propose additional vocabularies.
