Subject: AW: [dita] MachineryTask Domain
Jeff, thanks for your feedback and your input at the TC meeting. Yes indeed to derive the machinerytask domain or to be precise the prelreq element on section instead of prereq would highly increase the flexibility of using this domain. E.g. if a company can not use even our generalized task for some reason and would create their own new tasktype derived from topic. The only disadvantage I currently see is the closereq element which has been derived from our postreq element. But that is an unimportant minor part of this domain specialization. So the advantage of deriving prelreq from section might be worth the disadvantage to drop the closereq element from this specialization. But maybe I have overlooked an other issue. If not I would support the idea to derive prelreq from section. In general I think making the domain more general is a good idea. If that isn't done and someone wants something similar in another topic type, they will be forced to create a new parallel domain. And that is something to be avoided. But having said the above, my concern and my question during yesterday's call was based on a misunderstanding on my part which was straightened out. The name Machinery Task Domain suggested to me that the domain was only available for use with a Machinery Task. I was comfortable once I learned that the domain was available for use with any task. -Jeff > -----Original Message----- > From: SeicoDyne DITA [mailto:dita@seicodyne.ch] > Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 5:45 PM > To: dita@lists.oasis-open.org; > dita-machine-industry@lists.oasis-open.org > Subject: [dita] MachineryTask Domain > > Hi folks, > > Today during the TC meeting, someone (sorry, I do not recall who > mentioned > that) asked why the MachineryTask Domain is suitalbe for the task > topic only and not for others.
