Subject: Linking and Addressing Rework Integrated
I have completed my rework of the linking and addressing topics. Here is a summary of the changes: 1. Added new Linking and addressing topic Basic concepts in the intro 2. Moved DITA linking and addressing topics from DITA markup to DITA processing. 3. Reorganized the linking and addressing topics under DITA Processing to break out addressing from linking. Moved content from "Using keys and keyref" topic in LangRef to here. Removed that topic from LangRef. 4. Added clarifying language to the ID Attribute topic to make the uniqueness rules for attributes clear, based on earlier email discussions. My language needs to be rationalized with a similar comment made by Jeff O. and implemented by Seth in id.dita. 5. Updated URI-based addressing topic to be clearer and more accurate. Added examples. 6. Updated Key-based addressing topic to be clearer and more complete. 7. Moved linking and addressing terminology into the main terminology topic. Kris also trimmed down the set of terms to just the essential, DITA-specific terms. 8. Updated image reference entry to reflect optional href, implications of using keyref. 9. Updated xref reference entry to reflect use of keyref and consolidate element-specific details moved from ArchSpec. 10. Updated the conkeyref attribute reference entry for completeness and accuracy. 11. Updated the conref attribute reference entry for completeness and accuracy. 12. Updated the conrefend attribute reference entry for completeness and accuracy. 13. Updated keyref attribute reference entry to remove redundant details now provided in the ArchSpec. 14. Updated keys attribute reference entry to remove redundant details now provided in the ArchSpec. Open items out of this: 1. Confer with Bruce to work resolve organization between Content reference topic and placeholder DITA Linking topic. 2. Verify topics reflect all decisions about must/should/may and error conditions made over the last couple of weeks.
