Decision to use Trello to track our DITA 1.3 progress

I've spent a good but of time assessing Trello, and I think it's definitely a tool that will help us make progress with DITA 1.3.

Some of you already have Trello accounts and access to the board, but for those of you who do not, I'll send out invitations this afternoon. Please take a look before the TC meeting tomorrow. I have some more tinkering to do -- adding detailed information, figuring out admin versus member permissions, deciding on our metadata scheme, deciding whether we use Trello for "To do" items -- but the basics are in place.

Here is a basic overview:

• Each DITA 1.3 proposal is represented by a card.
• Each of the DITA 1.3 stages are represented by a list.
• Unlike the Wiki pages, it is very simple to move a card (DITA 1.3 proposal) from one list (stage) to another.
• Each card can have a description, comments, deadlines, attached files, members, etc.
• Members can vote on card, thus signifying the importance that they attach to a particular DITA 1.3 proposal.
• It's easy to search and filter the cards.
• It provides a one-page portal for our DITA 1.3 proposals, rather than the multiple, current Wiki pages.
