Subject: Re: [dita] Definition of root map
Hey, Jim. We added a definition of "root map" to the spec for DITA 1.3. We had HUGE difficulty agreeing upon a definition -- Can we get a volunteer to search the minutes and DITAweb review log? -- and what we have is what all would agree to. Yes, it is terse and minimalistic. Putting on my spec editor hat, I'd want to see a list of all the places that the term is referenced in the DITA 1.3 spec before considering a change. Of course, improving spec terminology and introducing a glossary really should be a VERY high priority item for DITA 2.0. I'm not really comfortable with your suggested change, however. I'm reluctant to suggest an alternative without seeing all the places the term is used in the spec, but maybe the following would work: "The DITA map that is provided as input for a processor, which
provides the context for all referenced items" ... Best,
