5. Subcommittee reports
Report from L&T subcommittee
Dawn: We had decided we would try to get things done via email instead of meetings since no one was attending. This means nothing is being done. Amber and I are working on the proposals to the TC for the contextless topic type. This is necessary for us for our other needs. We're still struggling to get any activity from the committee as a whole, so not much to report.
Kris: Everyone please keep in mind, if you can think of any way to get people more active, let Dawn and Amber know.

Maria: I found the last session useful and fantastic. We had some technical glitches but I really appreciate it.
Nancy: I didn't see the notification.
Tom: It was an OASIS calendar announcement, maybe that was overlooked somehow.

Kris: Tom, thanks for the XMetaL notes. Anything to add?
Tom: It's a longish note, but it's really just setting a few user preferences for working with the DITA spec.
Kris: One of those is automatically generated IDs, the more important one is pretty-printing of the XML source, which breaks the ability to do diffs in git.
Next steps?
Maria: I will start working, give it a try, and if I run into problems I will ask questions.

Kris: I made this page to track deadlines, owners, and links to the proposals. Nancy, hopefully you'll be able to copy/paste into the minutes.
Nancy: That would be Tom today.
Robert: Typos on wiki page have been updated as we speak.

Carlos: We've been trying to build LwDITA deliverables. Some magic didn't happen with this one. We'll be discussing at the committee meeting on Monday and see if it's an issue with OT 3.1.
Kris: This is an issue with the grammar files with the spec?
Carlos: Yes. I don't know if it's something with 3.1.x of the OT or something that we're doing wrong. Mark Giffin is investigating.
9. DITA for Technical Communication

10. Committee note about multimedia domain for DITA 1.3
OASIS template requested and received in 2017; basic maps and topics set up
GitHub repo opened; DITA source uploaded
Kris: Tom, are you willing to be the "head wrangler" to facilitate progress on this committee note?
Tom: I did think about it. I'm willing to do it as long as it's OK that I'm out several times over the next few months--next two weeks, then 1.5 weeks in early October, then 2 weeks again in Oct/Nov.
Kris: I think that would be OK.
Tom: All right, then I'll do it.
