Subject: DOCBOOK-APPS: Creating Different Output Formats Using DocBook V 4.1 XML
Hi! What "final" output formats can be generated if one intends to use the XML version of DocBook (V 4.1) in conjunction with the XSL (V 1.16) version of the Modular DocBook style sheets? I'm looking for the following formats: - DVI - RTF - MIF - PS - PDF - HTML - PCL (would be practical if a document contains a lot of images, since PostScript burdens the printer with all the rendering work, unless it has got some Rendering Image Processor (RIP) ) - troff (unix man pages) - texinfo - ascii (also taking into account page breaks and tables) (Except for the last four formats, these are quite the same formats the can be generated with the SGML version of DocBook). What tools do I need? (I was told that "Saxon" is supposed to be a good XSL processor, but I'm not really sure whether it's suitable for my purpose. I just couldn't find any information as to whether it can create output formats other than HTML on the home page.) In what order should the tools be invoked for producing the desired formats?
