Mix and match is fine.

I use DSSSL for PDF/Postscript

XSL for man pages, htmlhelp.

I use a makefile to wrap the commands up..

..so make target.pdf would invoke the DSSSL toolchain,
make target.1 (for a manual page) would invoke the XSLT toolchain.

After an small amount of stylesheet customisation I don't tend to need
to change things that much... So the system is fine to push out to the
"authors"... They just mark up XML with DocBook and type "make"... and
they get whatever they need.
