DOCBOOK-APPS: website and java catalog manager

Just moving a website over to use the catalog manager,
so I may not have caught everything yet, but I'm stuck with

Resolved public: -//Norman Walsh//DTD Website Auto Layout V1.0//EN
        file:/sgml/nw/website-2.2/autolayout.dtd
Fail: this stylesheet relies on the exists() extension function
Processing terminated by xsl:message at line 73

Yes, I know its cheating. But rather than tweak (I haven't got sed)
all the files, I'm resolving layout 1.0 to autolayout 2.2
(Is that how others do it?)

I'm concerned about the exists() function.

Is it indicating my catalog.jar is out of date, or saxon isn't right version?
Using saxon 6.5.2 .
