kbd is not an attribute.

kbd is neither presentational nor deprecated, AFAICS.
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/struct/text.html#edef-KBD
"Indicates text to be entered by the user."

Presentational markup is being phased out, and structural/semantic
markup remains (ideally).

Some deprecated presentational elements:
center, font, strike / s, u.

Unfortunately, XHTML doesn't really evolve in a direction where it would
not be concerned be with display at all, and where it would offer rich
semantics.
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/struct/lists.html#edef-DIR
shows that they unfortunately don't see much value in semantic
differences, "if the rendering is the same"(!).
:( ...

Anyway, his point was to move from presentational tt to semantic kbd.
