looking for tutorial on fonts WRT docbook and FOP

  i've decided i'd like to use as my standard monospace font
not the 'monospace' default, but something more appealing like
the lucasfont mono sans font that o'reilly is using for their
newer publications.

  at the moment, i'm reading what's necessary for FOP at
xm.apache.org/fop/fonts.html, but i'm also interested in 
good tutorials on fonts in general so i have a better big
picture.

  any pointers appreciate.  (i'm running RH 9, and i didn't see
anything about fonts in the online guides.)
