generating toc entry for article inside book ?

Hi,

I just generated a xml-book document, that includes some external 
articles.

Structure:
<book>
  <part>
    <article>
    </article>
  </part>
</book>

The generated toc contains the just the Title of the part-section, but does not
reference the two articles contained within.

I'm not sure, if this is a bug or a feature. The document is valid to 
docbook doctype '4.2' (checked via xmllint -xinclud --noout -postvalid).
(as book or part are valid parents for articles).

Are the articles removed from the book toc on purpose ?
If not
- is this an error on my side ? 
- should I file a bug report ?
