Subject: Re: [docbook-apps] DocBook on OSX : XSLT & XSL FO programs

Ack, I've been meaning to update that doc, and now I realize I waited way
too long. I just added a pointer (in the CVS version so far) from that
chapter to my online book for more up-to-date information.

Currently the three most complete and popular XSLT processors are Saxon,
xsltproc, and Xalan. Regarding FO processors, PassiveTeX is very difficult
to get working with DocBook XSL, and even then it does not support important
parts of the XSL-FO standard. FOP is possibly the best free XSL-FO
processor, but it also does not support all of the XSL-FO standard. It is
usable, but difficult to get production-quality output. Some of the
commercial XSL-FO processors such as those from RenderX, Antenna House, and
Arbortext can do so, but they aren't free. This year has seen several new
XSL-FO processors emerge (xmlroff, Xinc) so it is getting hard to keep up.
