isbn formatting

I want the <isbn> element to be rendered as "ISBN 0-201-10088-6" and not
just "0-201-10088-6" as it is now (both XHTML and FO):

I tried this:

<xsl:template match="isbn">
 <div class="isbn">ISBN <xsl:apply-templates/></div>
</xsl:template>

but it did not help
(what's the difference between apply-templates and apply-imports, BTW?)

I have no idea what to do about FO.
Suggestions?
