Also known as a "stupid mistake". Mine. Sorry.

Yep. Problem was that when I added that code change (for
tokenizing datetime strings), I tested only with date strings and
not at all with times. Why? I don't know. Laziness, dimwittedness...

Anyway, I have checked in the fix, so it should be working as
expected in the latest snapshot.
