Subject: white space and intervening indexterm elements

Arggh. I've completed the index for my book, by using Oxygen (an xml
editor) to insert indexterm elements very close to the references I
want to index.

Now I realize that this has caused my pdf to have two spaces between
words, where there should only be one, when there is an intervening
indexterm.

Here's a snippet of the docbook source and the corresponding fo. xep
(Version 4.4 build 20050822) produces a pdf that has two spaces
between "12th week," and "testosterone".

How best to repair this?

Cheryl
