Subject: white space and intervening indexterm elements
Arggh. I've completed the index for my book, by using Oxygen (an xml editor) to insert indexterm elements very close to the references I want to index. Now I realize that this has caused my pdf to have two spaces between words, where there should only be one, when there is an intervening indexterm. Here's a snippet of the docbook source and the corresponding fo. xep (Version 4.4 build 20050822) produces a pdf that has two spaces between "12th week," and "testosterone". How best to repair this? Cheryl ******** xml source ********** Mullerian-inhibiting substance (<acronym>MIS</acronym>), causing the Mullerian ducts to regress. By about the 12th week, <indexterm> <primary>testosterone</primary> </indexterm> testosterone produced by the testes cause the Wolffian ducts to form the spermatic ducts. ******** fo ********** Mullerian-inhibiting substance (MIS), causing the Mullerian ducts to regress. The external genitalia are sexually undifferentiated until the 7th week.
