The product is good and continually getting better - especially in seeing the structure of your document (book or whatever). You can merge XEP easily if you have it - or any other package you like. I have found support excellent, but that costs (i think) something like $15-20 per year. I had a recent problem with xincludes and xml:base, which Bob finally sorted out, and they got a workaround to me the next day. Having said all that, I think most editors would find the learning curve a bit on the steep side - but for anything more structured than a simple letter, there's no way I would ever go back to those old stone-age word processors. Keep structure, content and formatting separate. Perhaps I shouldn't say it on a dockbook list, but have you considered TEI (also supported with in Oxygen) - if you really want fine control over text material?
