1. I am not an expert. 2. I might misunderstand why you are asking the question. 3. You will find that the entire page is made up of tables, not just the qandaset. For a very long time in web years, tables have been an effective way to make sure a browser will make an acceptable rendering of a page. CSS has not been around so long - Docbook probably predates CSS. 4. I have a feeling that with the upcoming rewrite of the Docbook stylesheets, you will have your CSS. (docbook xsl2) 5. It will be nice when they do more fool proofing on the test version so that even I can figure out how to use it...
