Using the new FOP 0.93 Release

We currently use Docbook 4.4, xsl-1.70.0, with FOP 0.20.5.  To get 
around some bugs, we would like to consider using
FOP 0.93 (just released).

What changes in the customization layers are needed / recommended for 
this?  (I recall seeing some switches to enable
FOP 1.0 extensions, I think).

Is it recommended to upgrade to docbook 4.5, docbook-xsl-1.71.1 for this?
