olinks + landscape orientations in fo

When I use this XSLT from the mailing list archives at

http://sourceware.org/ml/docbook-apps/2003-q4/msg00727.html

as part of my customization layer, even without any chapter or
appendices that have role=land in my source xml, olinking fails with
the following stylesheet errors:

     [exec] Olinks not processed: must specify a
$target.database.document parameter
     [exec] when using olinks with targetdoc and targetptr attributes.
     [exec] Error: unresolved olink: targetdoc/targetptr = 'self/GNVNOTED'.

<repeated once for each failed olink>

Also, XEP fails with

      [xep] (document
      [xep] [system-id
file:/C:/workspace/engineering-optimization/EngineeringOptimization/Documentation/build/Engineering_Optimization/Engineering_Optimization.fo]
      [xep] (validate
      [xep] [error] Attribute 'reference-orientation' cannot have a
value of "90deg".
      [xep] [error] Attribute 'reference-orientation' cannot have a
value of "90deg".
      [xep] [validation total: 2 errors]

even though I have run the fo file through psmi.xsl before feeding it to xep.
