See if another JVM solves things. Well, my experiences with building docbook-defguide are, that kaffe and cacao run out of memory much earlier than GIJ (with the same reserved heapsize). JamVM is some kind of slow, like GIJ is too (if not using native code). So my choice was GIJ. Native code speeds up things a lot. But without native code I had a huge difference in processing the TDG sources to HTML: hour with Sun Java vs 16 hours with GIJ. However, because of my other experiences, I preferred GIJ over the other free JVMs. Regards, Daniel
