DOCBOOK: Suppressing LOT output with Modular DocBook stylesheets

For a project I am currently working on I need to suppress output of
all LOT elements. I've tried

(define ($generate-book-lot-list$)
  ;; Don't generate any lists
  (list (empty-node-list)))

in my customization layer, but jade reports 

jade:/usr/local/lib/sgml/docbook/print/dbdivis.dls:90:8:E: pattern is not a list

The resulting output is satisfactory, but I have a feeling it's by
coincidence rather than design. What am I doing wrong?
