Why not using jadetex and pdfjadetex? With jadetex PostScript can be generated and with pdfjadetex PDF can be generated directly. PDFs are a little bit harder to generate, and with pdfjadetex it is not possible to make a document with more then 780 pages. This is true at least with the PHP documentation. With print stylesheets it is now over 1000 pages. > but beware: the xsl stylesheets seem to be alpha quality in pdf rendering > norm: is it helpfull to write bug reports ? for example page counters > start several times at 1 within a book. For the PHP documentation we use Norm's DSSSL. > i wrote a small docbook/debian howto in german. if there is a need, > i will translate it to english. write me a mail. URL? I need the german DocBook HowTo also since I'm the coordinator for the German translation. -Egon
