THe official Doc people at Cygnus did not use DocBook, and the eCos project which did use DocBook limped along with poor FM+SGML support used by their official doc guy, and the engineers writing DocBook markup directly. So it's kind of funny that Cygnus pioneered using DocBook for free software, but did not use it across the board and is now probably the least hip part of Red Hat in that sense.
