The PNG notation is in DocBook V4.0.

Just ignore the notations. Use <imagedata fileref="mypngfile.png"/>

If you have a processing system that requires notations, just add

<!NOTATION PNG SYSTEM "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-png">

to dbgenent.mod.
