Rendering of <editor> children

I am using the <editor> element in an <articleinfo> like:

...
<editor>
<firstname>John</firstname>
<surname>Doe</surname>
<affiliation>
<orgname>Acme Corp.</orgname>
<orgdiv>Document Management Dept.</orgdiv>
<address>
<city>Fooville</city>
</address>
</affiliation>
</editor>
...

When rendered in HTML it looks like:

John DoeAcme Corp.Document Management Dept.Fooville

i.e., no blanks in between the elements.

Is the method described above not the proper way to use the <editor>
element?
